An irate McDonald’s customer has been filmed in an angry outburst inside one of the fast food restaurant’s Sydney stores, smashing a Covid safety screen.
Distressing footage has surfaced showing a man in an aggressive rage inside a McDonald’s store, yelling expletives at an employee and smashing the store’s Covid safety barrier.
The man, who was not wearing a face mask, caused the barrier to shatter and fly in the direction of employees, narrowly missing them.
The concerning video was understood to have been filmed inside one of the fast food restaurant’s Sydney outlets earlier this week, later being uploaded to TikTok.
It appeared the man became enraged after being told by a staff member he needed to wear a face mask.
The face mask mandate still applies to indoor venues in Sydney under coronavirus health orders.
While the interaction was largely inaudible, a staff member could be heard telling the man, “you have to wear a mask”.
A woman was shown standing to the side of the angry customer while holding a face mask and attempting to diffuse the situation.
Another person later approached the front counter and appeared to shout something at the employee.
The man was shown appearing to leave the store after the heated interaction.
A McDonald’s spokesperson said such anti-social behaviour was not tolerated.
“At McDonald’s the health and safety of our people and customers is our top priority.
We are committed to providing a workplace free from harm and are taking the necessary action to support the health and safety of our people and customers at all times,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.
“We expect our people to be treated with respect.
“We will always do our best for our customers, but we won’t accept abuse, intimidation, threats or violence towards our employees.”
The video was viewed more than 1.7 million times after being shared on TikTok.
