Twelve of the 17 trekkers who lost their way while trekking towards Lamkhaga Pass in Uttarakhand have been confirmed dead. Bodies of the trekkers buried in snow were recovered by rescue teams, after the Indian Air Force along with ITBP, Indian Army and state disaster management response teams launched a massive operation. Of the 12 trekkers who died nine are from West Bengal and one is from Delhi. The identity of two more persons are yet to be ascertained. The trekkers had apparently lost their way on October 18 amid extreme weather while they were trekking towards Lamkhaga Pass.
